Just my thought, but I would like to see Leagues 1 & 2 merged and then split into North and South divisions as was previously the case. Champions from each to go up to the Championship, 2nd & 3rd from each division up to play off for third promotion spot. Bottom team from each division to drop out of league.
In all probability, occasionally a Midlands team would have to swap from one division to another to equalise the numbers, but the savings on travelling, both time and expense would be immense.
