Left his new position before he even had to do anything amidst rumours he's joining another club as manager. Whispers it's because he was promised a more experienced manager to work with and wasn't happy..

Whatever the reasons, it's good news. Trollope can now be judged on his own merits without the spectre of Slade in the background. Perhaps he might even be seen in Cardiff soon instead of swanning around with Wales.
Should have just sacked him 28 days ago, although no damage has been done really.
Charlton next for Slade. Stability is one thing but expect their supporters will also expect a little more.

Head of Football was never a serious appointment, just a vehicle to let City bring the whole sorry saga of Slade's tenure to a conclusion with reputations and pride intact.

That doesn't seem likely, given that City are apparently urging Trollope to stay on with Wales.

I can see a certain logic with what they are hoping for, but there will need to be a sound coaching structure in place to pull it off.

City maintained from the start that they were looking for a younger and more radically thinking coach. Given that PT was Slade's appointment, I can't what problem Slade would have had in working with him, unless of course he wasn't being allowed to do so.
Best result all round.

Already in talks with Charlton according to "Sky Sources".

Wales Online thinking they have 'insiders' at the club, when in fact our chief executive openly said he wanted Trollope to stay on with the national side when appointing him last month. Won't happen, though.
Noticed this as a headline last night when I attended the pre-euro chat hosted by Chris Wathan, Bryn Law and Cliff Jones. Thought it was a surprise and yet not unexpected all at the same time.
The chat was interesting by the way. Cliff Jones was an absolute gent.

From a different era. I once saw Tom Finney speak at a sportsman dinner, as the warm up for Jimmy Greaves. As with Cliff Jones, Finney was a real gent and in complete contrast to Greavsie, who was, well, Greavsie! Pretty damned entertaining all the same.

Rusty Spade unveiled as manager of Charlton Athletic this morning.
I thought that statues were unveiled......oh, wait a minute!

He says he's looking forward to the job because Charlton have a great Academy. Is this the same Russell Slade?

You have to wonder how he'll manage at a club like Charlton, who have a decent Academy set-up. Maybe ours really was that terrible (Picking Malone over John constantly certainly suggests that!).
Felt he could have held out for a lower-end Championship job but that seems like a decent enough project.
