This may be no more than a fight for mid-table superiority, but a win could be truly important for both sides.
Russell Slade has found himself under fire from Cardiff fans for their failure to build a promotion push this season, following their relegation from the top flight – and will want to finish on a high.
Dougie Freedman's Forest have not won in seven games now, collecting only two points through a frustrating run of results.
Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman hopes to have Gary Gardner available for the last time before the on-loan midfielder returns to Aston Villa.
Andy Reid (groin), Chris Cohen (knee), Britt Assombalonga (knee) and Matty Fryatt (Achilles) all miss out again.
Cardiff will hand a late fitness test to midfielder Joe Ralls who picked up a knock against Blackpool last week.
Eoin Doyle and Joe Mason are expected to continue upfront, while defender Ben Turner could return from injury.
Head-to-Head
• Cardiff won the earlier meeting this season 2-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium in October.
• Cardiff have won four of the last five meetings, losing the other. Nottingham Forest's only win since 2011 was 3-1 at the City Ground in October 2012.
• Cardiff have won only one of the last four meetings at the City Ground. Their only win there since 2008 was 1-0 in December 2011.
Nottingham Forest
• Nottingham Forest have not won any of their last seven games, losing five. Their last win was 2-0 against Rotherham at home on 18 March.
• Nottingham Forest have lost their last three home games, against Wolves, Huddersfield and Watford.
Cardiff
• Cardiff have lost only one of their last four games. Their only defeat since 6 April was 3-1 at Ipswich on 14 April.
• That defeat at Ipswich is Cardiff's only loss in their last eight away games, winning four and drawing three.

Slade has taken some flak today from the media and apparently only 3 journos turned up for his press conference.
Now, as a manager, one would hope that such things would wound his pride and he would get his team fired up to close the season with a positive result and effectively stick two fingers up at his detractors......
............we shall see......
I really have no idea about a prediction, but maybe if City do feel that they have more to prove than Forest.......maybe a 0 - 1 away victory.

From what I've seen out City Player (is that what it's called?...) three journalists turning up seems about the norm since the turn of the year.
I'm going with a 1-1 draw.

An indication of how well his management abilities have captured the imagination of everyone.

Dougie Freedman was a manager who consistently out thought Malky Mackay, so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with against Slade's team.
I had originally suggested a City win, but given the Freedman factor, that is probably unlikely.

it was rhett butler who said "frankly my dear i don't give a damn."
if i am asked to pass an opinion will side with td and go with a 0-1 win for city, but not over interested. probally change a bit nearer 1215

Unfortunately we're all enveloped in a cloud of apathy and frustration at the moment.
Even during the bad times my Saturday afternoon hinged (or unhinged) on our result. Not any more. Also, I've never had the negative reaction I get these days to a good result because it simply means that there will be an even more entrenched view of Slade in Tanworld.
As for today, I'm going for a..............couldn't care less.

if we do end up with a top 10 finish or thereabouts, then russell slade has to take an awful lot of credit for it. given where we were, of the relegated sides we have done well to get this far up the table.

I think you need to go and lie down in a darkened room for a while, Dave.......
Given the fresh investment in the squad following relegation a year ago, we should have been far better placed than we are today.

Marshall aside, we could well be seeing our starting lineup for next season.
