Cardiff City board to boycott Wigan match over alleged racism
By David Ornstein BBC Sport

Cardiff City's board members will boycott Tuesday's Championship game at Wigan in protest at what they allege to be a club owned and managed by racists.
At least two members of the board were planning to travel but owner Vincent Tan has instructed them not to and they are said to support his position.
Wigan owner Dave Whelan was fined £50,000 for making racist comments about Jewish and Chinese people.
He also served a six-week ban from all football-related activity.
However, a Football Association disciplinary commission said it was "satisfied" Whelan "is not a racist" and did not intend to cause offence.
The 78-year-old's comments were made as he defended the appointment of Malky Mackay as the new Latics manager in November.
Mackay is currently under investigation by the FA regarding allegations he sent "sexist, racist and homophobic" text messages during his time in charge of Cardiff.
The Scot admitted sending offensive messages and apologised, adding that he is not racist, sexist, homophobic or anti-Semitic.
Mackay was sacked by the Bluebirds in December 2013.
Wigan declined to comment.

It usually is a great honour and privilege to have a stadium named after one, i am easily pleased and will settle with my initials. shame however it has to be Wigan who are known as the Lactics, which my research tells me is a corruption of the name athletic. Founded in 1932, Wigan are the most recently formed club in the division and for 67 years played at Springfield Park. They now share their ground with Wigan Warriors rugby league side.

team news
Jermaine Pennant is fit to make his Wigan debut but loan striker Leon Clarke's Latics future rests on the severity of his shoulder injury.
He joins William Kvist (hamstring), Grant Holt (knee) and Emyr Huws (ankle) on Malky Mackay's non-starter list.
Cardiff's Matt Connolly is set to be joined at the back by Lee Peltier, who replaces the injured Scott Malone.
Winger Anthony Pilkington is out, but Russell Slade has Eoin Doyle and Kenwyne Jones available up front.

Head-to-Head
• Cardiff won the earlier meeting this season 1-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium in August - their first win in 12 meetings in all competitions.
• Wigan have won four of the last five meetings at home, drawing the other. Cardiff's only win there was 1-0 in the old Division Three in March 1997.

What's this about a thread boycott?...I've been so busy with work recently that I've not really been able to keep up with what's going on.

I'm out tonight that I won't be able to listen to the game either but I'm hoping to log in later to good reports

Two team changes. Both full backs out - Connolly and Ralls in.

Real problems at full back, obviously.  Somewhat bemused by Ralls getting the nod at LB over John who is on the bench.  Connolly the only right sided option available....now that is a concern if there are any more injuries.

Not expecting too much. I'll opt for a dour 0 - 0.

Good finish. Went straight through the middle past about four players and put it wide of the keeper into the far corner.

TDA - Sky Sports News always show Championship goals straight after they are scored in midweek.
