Alex McCarthy and David Marshall on Everton radar as Toffees eye keeper swoop
Everton looking to sign shot-stopper during the January transfer window
Tim Howard faces at least another month out with a niggling calf problem
Back-up Joel Robles has been linked with a move back to Spain
By SIMON JONES FOR THE DAILY MAIL
Everton have drawn up a list of goalkeeping targets after an injury to Tim Howard.

The American faces at least a month on the sidelines with a calf problem, but is also attracting interest from the MLS.

Joel Robles, 24, continued to deputise between the sticks for Tuesday night's FA Cup draw against West Ham at Goodison Park, but could return to Spain.
Alex McCarthy has played just twice since his summer switch to QPR
Cardiff City keeper David Marshall is also on Everton's radar as Roberto Martinez looks to strengthen
Cardiff's David Marshall and Alex McCarthy of QPR are among the names on Everton's list of potential replacements.

Toffees boss Roberto Martinez said: 'There are a couple of options I feel could fit really well but I wouldn't just bring in anyone who stops the development of a youngster.

'I would rather make it a long-term signing. I don't think short-term would be a solution for us now.'

Norwich's John Ruddy, Ali Al Habsi of Wigan, Sergio Romero of Sampdoria and Feyenoord's Erwin Mulder have also been mentioned.

I read yesterday that Liverpool are also interested. That would make sense when you look at their keepers.

Yep, pretty appalling display by their keeper against AFC Wimbledon the other evening.

From our point of view, given the state of the team, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I have been impressed by what I have seen of Simon Moore and Joe Lewis will be back from Blackpool at the end of the season, if needed. Also, Tan may be tempted to recoup part of his investment by selling Marshall.

It might also solve our captaincy problem........... david marshall 4228682415

I agree TDA, Moore looked fairly solid.

Also, I think Marshall deserves a chance at the top. Though, Keepers don't seem to sell for very much. Have to wait and see I guess.

Marshall deserves a proper go at Premiership football. If be devestated if he left, but he has earned it and has shown us nothing but loyalty thus far.

I have to agree with the comments, I'd hate to see Marshall leave us, But you cant argue with the decision if he does go, he has earned it.

Simon Moore Can he step up to the plate? Wouldn't surprise me though if slade ends up buying a league 1 goalkeeper for around 150k
