According to Wales online, Hannover 96 have announced that City have made a bid for Mame Diouf. Believed to be in the region of £2.5 Million.
Hope we also make a bid for Papa Cisse of Newcastle, then we'll have the 'Mames and the Papas' playing at the CCS every week. Mame Diouf 692773407

On another note there was a rumour we would try for Papiss Cisse so it's not as silly as it sounds!

Hannover have accepted our bid, we have just got to agree personal terms, but apparently Newcastle have chucked in a late bid

ok.
before this gets out of hand.
we bid 2.5m for a striker
we paid 2-3m for a striker - maynard
on that basis maynard is as good as diouf
so why buy diouf?
why not give maynard some game time?

Hopefully the Ole effect will come into play here and he will pick us. Guaranteed starts as well.

Dave I'm inclined to agree about Maynard. He was brilliant against Wolves last year just before his injury and hasn't really had a chance since regaining fitness.
I'm not saying don't buy Diouf but keep Maynard and let Odourwinkie go.

Havent you said yourself though that Malky overspent severely on many of his targets? Besides, a player being more expensive than another doesnt automatically mean they are better - Campbell is our best striker by a country mile, yet he only cost us 600K.

Maynard was a Championship striker, panic-bought at an inflated price on deadline day for last season's campaign.

He was unfortunate with the injury, but I don't think anyone would have realistically expected him to do much at PL level.

Out on loan now is a good option, as he may need to step into the breach at sometime and match fitness will be crucial.......SuperKev's shift against Newcastle showed that.

I'd say "Yes!"

Maynard isn't up to it (at the moment) as I have said above and Odemthingy is this year's Maynard..........which just leaves Campbell & Cornelius.  The jury is out on Cornelius and Joe Mason is going out on loan again, so I would say that we are a little light in the striking department.
