Interesting reflections on his career:

Sounds like his best time was at Cardiff, although (surprise, surprise) he didn't get on with Dave Jones.

Decent read TBF.
I thought he was older than 32.
Valid point regarding the majority of ex-pros having to get a 'proper' job when they retire.

Only 32! He's fecking younger than me! Christ, that puts a few things in context for me.
I remember reading an article a few years back about ex-players who were unfortunate enough to play before the big Premiership payday. It was about ex-Man Utd and England International Neil Webb and how he was barely scraping a living as a Postman. Harsh.

I liked Rhys Weston. He would do something comically bad once every couple of games (I've never seen anyone else air kick like Weston) but he was generally ok and he seemed like he loved playing for us.

I can't say that I have ever felt sorry for any ex-pro footballers who have had to revert to doing a 'proper job' when they retire from the game. They have always been paid a lot more than the average working man so why should they think that they only need to work for 10 - 12 years to be set up for life when the rest of us have had to work for 50 years or so to qualify for a pension. The current lot are generally grossly overpaid, greedy, so and so's who 'badge kiss' for showmanship, when all they really care about is screwing the clubs and hence us the fans for as much as they can get. One thing that I do agree with is the current academy systems which guarantees that youngsters continue with their education, so that if they don't make it 'in the big time' they are prepared for working life outside of football. Pay them all a lot less, cut the cost of football for the fans and encourage more home grown participation, with fewer money grabbing agents advocating that players move clubs on a whim just so that they can line their pockets. Lets give football back to the most important people in the game, THE FANS. Rant over, time to 'keep calm and have a cuppa'.
