A great centre forward of the 60s - 70s who played upfront in a struggling Wales alongside Wyn Davies. I can remember one occasion when Toshack was also played in a side that had three centre forwards all brilliant in the air........didn't work though

Yes, they were all brilliant, but Ron was the best. I remember seeing him score a hat trick of headers for Wales against Scotland one year.....shame we lost 5-3!

I was at that game at the racecourse. Didn't Wyn and Tosh also play that game?

Just looked it up - absolutely right, they all played. Tosh was 20 at the time, and scored one of the goals (Ron only got 2, my mistake). City had 2 other players in the side, Steve Derrett and Barrie Jones.

1969? I was an Aberystwyth school kid, complete with wooden rattle, squashed behind the goal and yes I thought tosh scored. Memorable game and above all else I still think of how bloody tall our front guys seemed, and Gary Sprake in goal.
