I've just arrived here for a course. Parking in some places is £38 for the day and the town centre is more ruined than Srebrenica. If I was making a list of the worst places on earth to live I would rank Swindon as less desirable than Mosul, Pripyat, the North Pole and the earth's core.

Sad to say, but there are plenty of places in the UK to rival Swindon......
My personal choice has to be Airdrie.....

There are some proper shitholes up north in the former industrial areas of Yorkshire/Lancashire, e.g.
Wakefield
Scunthorpe
Hull
Doncaster
Bradford
Warrington
Rochdale
Bury
etc.
Going a bit further to the north-east you have 'Gurnos-on-sea' a.k.a. Whitley Bay, which ranks among the worst places I have spent a weekend.

Swansea... Seriously has anyone been to the town centre of Swansea lately?
Newport... Seriously has anyone been to the town centre of Newport lately?
Bristol... Seriously has anyone been to the town centre of Swansea lately

Yes, yes, yes. Swindon is on a par with Blackpool as one of the worst places in Britain.
In a previous life, I used to have to go there for work quite regularly. It is best described as a series of confusing roundabouts that link a collection of closed down pubs and some industrial estates. The train station is one of the most barren, depressing places on earth (even after the upgrade). I think even Stalin-era Russians would turn their noses up at it.
Blackpool is a dirty grotty town with shitty beaches, terrible bars and horrible people - whether they be local or not. If it was possible to nuke a town without killing anyone, I would choose Blackpool.
On another note, that is the 100th time this week I've agreed with Slumdog

There is a plastic brush and bucket at the eastern end of the platform the London train departs from and they've been lying there, forgotten and unused, for about three years. Someone must have given the platform sign a bit of a wipe and then wandered off never to return and in three years no one has gone back and picked it up. Stay proud, Swindon.
