I was thinking about Malky's two years in charge and what he has achieved, and had a sobering thought - we nearly had Alan Shearer as manager. It sent a chill down my spine.
Where do you think we would be now if that had happened?

Ah Christ, I hate sobering thoughts, it's enough to make me have a drink.

I don't think any thought is sobering for Trash. Or any other bodily process or substance
Option a) Sacked by Christmas with the team lingering near the bottom of the league, Malky comes in and salvages a relegation fight.
Option b) Really mediocre season followed by Tan leaving in the summer, administration, team gets threatened with liquidation, club gets bought by a fan consortium followed by league 2 football for the next decade.
Chilling

Bit strange that he hasn't had any other managerial jobs...ex players seem to be offered them all the time

Is that true? Didn't realise that was close. He isn't made for management and is an interesting character for sure. Too arrogant to inspire and lead others.

I loved Shearer as a player, when growing up he was one of my favourite players, I can imagine he was a nightmare to defend against and just refused to be bullied. As a pundit he is a bit of a bore and not a natural talker and I can't imagine he'd be any better as a manager.
However I genuinely don't think England have had a better player since.

I'm gonna state the obvious and say we would probably would have been a lot more attacking then under the surrent Centre-Half Manager. Shearer's name may have brought in a few high profile names and we'd have another team of egos on our hands. Finish 7th again. Tan left ... As Rhys stated baove = disaster but Sheep Shearers is hilarious
