After the derby fixture last week I had a rant about mm, his selection policy and tactics. It drew a number of pro mackay comments which i think was to be expected and I got the impression generally sneered at as being just a blue moan.

over the year we invested in players that we can now assume are just are not going to make it at the ccs. velikonia £1m, mutch £2m, kimbo £2.5m and maynard £2.5m. for a club £80m in debt that aint bad going. the powers that be generally felt that our defensive under strength was sufficient. maynard suffered a repeat injury and he is now damaged goods. we have been watching him for a long time velikonja has not made the grade??? mutch and kimbo, two players with a bit of skill and class have not even been on bench warming duties of late and mackay persists with players and tactics more at home in the blue square premier.

besides those mentioned, we have other good players in our club who are not even getting game time. fans are left with cast-offs and frees cocking it all up to the extent of having to chase a game to salvage a point. our lead has now been halved and i for one have little confidence in us being promoted. perhaps we can look forward to another year in the championship, but hopefully under a different manager. think we will struggle?

Yeh I agree Dave, I just don't get Malkay at all. Kim has looked superb more times than not when he has played, a genuinely technically gifted player. He seems to be stifling Mason's progression too.

The last 2 months we have been as predictable as a Snow Patrol song...and equally as boring.

Can't disagree there Dave. Malky is persisting with out of form squad players from last season when we have real talent on the bench. It could be his undoing.

I think the majority of posters would agree that the team selections/tactics are baffling.

However, the manager must be allowed to see it through to the end of the season - then is the time to consider if he should be given another period in charge. Any rash decisions now could cause more harm than good. Even if next season involves a Premier League campaign, then the club must review whether Malky is the right man for the job.

We shouldn't forget that the players have a responsibilty also; leadership and application are lacking somewhat at the moment.

I don't think I would fault the players at all here. The same few have been asked to perform week in, week out within a high energy, physically demanding formation..........games were won earlier by harrying the opposition, closing down, keeping possession and creating chances that were converted by virtually every player in the team......only Taylor & SuperKev haven't scored....a top scorer with only 8 goals in a table topping team speaks volumes about the system being played.

The backbone of the team has simply run out of steam and ideas, whilst the natural "backups", Kimbo, Mutch, Rudy, Velcro, Mason, Ralls & Kiss have not had the game time to get them up to the necessary level to compete in the Championship. I would also include McPhail in that group, as a player who can influence a game with ball retention and an incisive through ball. Craig Noone has also been underused and his confidence has clearly been affected.

I don't think Malky has the bottle to change things at this late stage and, as I said last night, I think the plan is to try not to lose any games and hopefully stagger across the line at the death......

I am possibly one if Malky's strongest supporters on here but I completely agree that to leave a failing team intact when there are on-form or eager players waiting for another chance (Kim, Ralls, Mutch, Velcro, obviously Kiss...) is baffling.

I didn't see the match but listened to the radio and heard Cyncoedslumdog's take on the game and can only surmise that Smith has gone the way of Helguson and is no longer capable of prolonged spells in the team.

Lets give youth a chance!

Judging by comments elsewhere, this must be a family perversion rant - again 4228682415
