Are the next two games the most important in our (at least recent) history?

Barcelona v AC Milan last night. AC Milan entered the Nou Camp with a 2 goal aggregate advantage, and their tactics were clear from the start - hold the line. They knew they were outmatched and that winning was probably off the cards, so instead they set up their wall and hoped it would be enough to hold Barca back. It failed, and when Barcelona scored twice to draw the aggregate level there could only ever be one winner from then on, Milan were broken.

Why did I start by talking about AC Milan? Because in my mind we are AC Milan, and Hull and Watford are Barcelona in this situation.

We have a lead, but we know we're in poor shape. Blowing the league apart is now out of the question - our gameplan is to hold our lead, not bleed points and drag ourselves across the line.

It's not working. We're now AC Milan at 2-1 on aggregate, knowing this is the last stand of our wall and we will either be victorious or collapse. The next two games are the build up for Barcelonas second goal - if we lose both we face dropping to third place in the league. Personally, I don't think we're in good enough shape to attack the leaders and we simply have to try and hold them back, preferably with two wins.

If we lose both and end up failing to be promoted, Malky will almost certainly be sacked and our future is suddenly very uncertain. We will probably register another season of increased debt, and who knows how Tan could react to that. He probably won't pack up his bags and walk, but who can 100% tell me they know he won't?

This is my battle call, basically. Hold the line or crumble.

I think you are right - but if we get promoted, will all this be forgotten?
