I don't want to put a downer on things, I am chuffed we are 10 points clear, we've got a great manager and some great players, crowds are doing well etc but....
If the badge is changed to remove the Bluebird and the blue kit is done away with altogether (it's already stopped being sold in the club shop) how would this make you feel?
I suppose I've always felt that we will change back to blue someday and I'm sure we will, even if it's in twenty years time. But for now, I've been willing to go along with the baffling change, just because I thought it was that or nothing, but if they start to go further by making these changes and changing the stadium colour etc etc I don't think I'll be able to just sit back and accept it.

Deep, but i guess you raise an important point.
Getting rid of the blue strip completely doesnt bother me too much, we stopped being blue the day our home strip became red so it no longer makes much difference imo. But would it be an insult to remove the bluebird now? Yes, it would be.
I won't be walking out on the club though. Call me shallow, but the more I think about it the more I've realised football is a game, and I can't help feeling its taken too seriously sometimes. I like the sport, I've chosen my local team and they will be the team I support throughout my life. The strip can be whatever colour it wants to be, the badge display whatever it likes, but as long as they are still Cardiff City from Cardiff they will always be my team.
I'd rather all of the things mentioned not happen, I would go back to the old badge and the blue strip in a heartbeat. But I just want to watch football and support my team, not get stuck in politics of a game.

Really not bothered. It matters less to me than the blue, which didn't matter that much. I've seen various badge re-designs over the years, can't recall them all but I'm sure there have been various rubbish designs. It's still Cardiff City FC, there's no one badge I associate with the club.

I would only be prepared to stop going if it were a mass organised demonstration against the changes. They really need to show the fans that they do actually care what we think. This is a football club, not a DIY store.

Ah, but is it? This is the shape of things to come. Based on our likely success this season, do you think there are clubs out there who would turn down the opportunity to do what we are doing just now.................look at Portsmouth, Rangers, maybe Swindon?
I see Cardiff City and the open-minded fans as being the pioneers of a new footballing world, where clubs are run on a proper commercial basis and for profit. That doesn't come with the wave of a wand, it takes proper corporate planning and a feel for what the market wants. Mark my words, other clubs suffering from the inertia that has dogged Cardiff City for so long will follow suit.
The Far East wants western football heroes and we want a successful team and we have a board that can deliver both.......enjoy the ride.
PS........I have never been fond of the bluebird anyway......

I can just about understand how rebranding may help to make us a more marketable prospect in the far east, but the rest of it (assuming it happens) just seems so unnecessary. Hardly any Malaysians are actually going to visit CCS so why can't everything else be kept as it is? We all want success of course, but not at any cost.
Yeah it is so tricky and I guess it comes down to individual choice in the end.
I'm on the same side of the spectrum as red, for me football is just a sport and Cardiff is my local team that I support and I love dearly. As long as Cardiff play in Cardiff I will support them. There are of course people who would be right on the other side of the spectrum who for them football is more than a sport and is far more important to them then being just a hobby.
The are always `extremists`, in want of a better word, for everything, and there are moderates. Depends which is the biggest demographic that controls how things go.

I've been watching over 50 years and I think the current bluebird obsession is relatively new.
For many years I watched 'the City' and my mates and I all went down 'the City'.
Nobody ever referred to them as the Bluebirds (I still don't) and when I watched them clinch promotion to the top division against Aston Villa in 1960 they chose to play at home in white shirts!
It's still the same Club as far as I'm concerned and I really don't care about the politics as long as I can carry on watching them.
Some people need to get a bloody life the fuss they are making (not referring to anybody on here!).

I popped into one of the "Other places" and quickly popped out again; five of the top six topics were about branding issues. I am trying to avoid getting dragged in to criticising people, but when a change of shirt colour has driven people to express that they are in despair, I am left a bit non-plussed!
Were they smart the white shirts?

I am a relative youngster having only started watching City 47 years ago ( ), but
I agree with all the sentiments expressed here. I think even in my time of supporting City there has been 3 or 4 badge changes and I can't say I've been enamoured with any of them. In fact, my favourite of the lot (the bluebird on the St David's Cross) was so roundly hated by everyone else it got trashed after a season So, what do I know?
I'll be honest, I have no real connection with the Bluebird nor do I see it's relevance to Cardiff or the club. I would much rather see something as a mascot/emblem that was representative of the City as a whole (preferably not involving feckin Dragons). I admit, I offer no substitute at the moment but maybe that's because the City is still growing and forming an identity? Maybe now is the time to really stake a claim for something a bit more dynamic.
I understand the hurt people might feel toward any change though. It's like as a child you grow up watching Bond or Dr Who - the one you remember first is the one that is generally your favourite (in my case Moore and Davidson) and you feel cheated when somebody new comes along and replaces them. Years later of course, you realise that they were far better than the crap ones you first adored and that the change was actually for the better. It's hard to see that when it first happens, however.
I know there is a wider issue of what happens next? Will the club be moved? Will it be renamed? Etc etc but I think if the Malaysians are half the businessmen they seem to be, they should know that changes on that kind of scale would irreparably damage the Cardiff City brand and it's potential earning value.
Ultimately, however, it is just a game, a source of entertainment and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
Rambling over now. I'm off to tickle my balls for a bit.
(note: My Balls is the name of my cat. What were you thinking?)

I think you may have hit on a solution here - the white shirts looked very nice and as a lot of people don't like the red and Mr Tan doesn't like blue, let's play in all white in future. It's a neutral colour and couldn't possibly cause any offence, could it?

perhaps we could also adopt a white bird as our mascot like a dove, a pelican, Nicola Roberts off of Girls Aloud or a sw... Oh I see...

We've obviously accepted the current changes, for me it was only because I thought it was in the best interests of the club, I assume others thought this too last June. But what for you would be a step too far? What would it take for you to say enough is enough?
Stadium re branding, eradicating all traces of blue, the Bluebird disappearing, club name change?

Only one thing; franchise football. Suddenly the team is moved somewhere else like the creation of Milton Keynes Dons.
Incidentally, it's about time they dropped the Dons.
