This is a curiosity thing, but how long do the City train for on a daily basis? What times? I'm only wondering as I was looking at rugby training for the Blues and wanted to compare the two. And yes, I know it will be vastly different!

Interesting this, something I've often wondered. A girl I knows dates a League 1 player so I'll try and find out from her what kind of schedule they have in place, I doubt it would differ than much from Cardiff would it?

Probably not, although Malkay did say when he joined us he wanted us to be the fittest team in the Championship...not sure if that means we train longer, or harder?

I used to work at University of Sussex and would go and watch Brighton train at the facilities there (it's right opposite their new stadium y'see). I'd often see their youth players coming in on the train or bus (the firt teamers would drive, obviously) about same time as me (so about 8.30-9am) and they would usually wrap up their training session while I was on my lunch (so, 1.30-2pm).

If that's the norm, I think Championship teams would train for about 3-4 hours a day. I suspect they'd have tactics or 1-to-1 training in the afternoon depending on their week.

That's interesting. Interesting to know you previously worked at a university, that is. But thanks for the info on the training as well. I've often heard football clubs often train 9-1, the players are given lunch then they stay for extra training or go home.

I remember seeing some of the City players weight training at David Lloyd's in the Dave Jones era. It was an absolute shambles, no structure, no time frames, players chatting whilst lifting weights so pathetic they never gained any benefit from it. I couldn't see that happening with Malky. Apparently a lot of sports scientists are saying weight lifting is becoming more important in football, especially squats, as it makes the players accelerate quicker.

I thought that was the job of their obligatory Mercedes C Class

I thought the joke was that Championship players always drive an Audi...?

I hope we're not cutting out technique or tactical training to focus on fitness?

I've probably posted this in the wrong forum. As we all work we can't see them train, therefore if I post this on CCMB I'll get thousands of responses...?
