I'm not normally one for taking in delight in other teams' failures as I always think it will come back and bite you BUUUUT I can't help but raise a smile at their current predicament or their lack of hope!

Yeh in January.
Brendan has already said he only allowed Carroll out because he was assured someone (Dempsey) was coming in. Top management right there.

False.
Martinez's Swansea team scored a lot of goals but conceded a lot of goals.
Sousa's Swansea team conceded very few but didn't have any attacking flair.
Rodgers brought in a few players and struck the perfect balance as his team had more pace and the ability to punish on the counter attack more.
The way I see it Liverpool have 3 ways of returning to the top 4.
1) Take out loans (debt) and sign big players like Llorente, Kaka, etc. which could in the end lead to them going straight back down the Hicks and Gillett route if they fail to quality for the Champions League.
2) Get taken over by an Arab or Russian with a mass amount of wealth who can invest into the club and return it to the top.
3) A new breed of quality players comes through and in 10-15 years Liverpool have the next Gerrard, etc.
I can't see their fans wanting to go back down the H&G route. I can't see them wanting to wait 10-15 years and by then they may have already fallen down a division. The only way in my opinion they will return to former glory is a takeover.
Unless that happens they will stay a mid table club or lower for the foreseeable future.
