Not sure if this has been covered before but are Fifa and the home nation associations having a laugh?! What is the point of having an international friendly 2 days before the league kicks off and then to try and cram it in between League Cup and Championship start is ludicrous!!
Bellamy, Earnshaw & Blake [Wales] Marshall & Cowie [Scotland] Gunnarsson [Iceland] Velikonja [Slovenia] & Filip Kiss [Slovakia].
Malky gave his opinion here: Boss Malky Mackay riled by Cardiff's 'bizarre' fixture schedule
It wouldn't be so bad if these games were worth something but ultimately they are futile and nothing but potential cash raisers and player injuring.

Firstly, welcome to the board
I agree entirely - personally, I hate International Friendlies. It always seems that just as the season gets underway, we have a two week break for pointless friendlies.
I think this is the first year that the league cup game has been before the season starts, it's usually the first Tuesday after the opening game. It's always a fast & furious start to the season, after the first five games the team is usually knackered.
Let's just hope we don't pick up any injuries this evening!

I believe Fifa has come out and said they will 'seriously consider' scrapping the summer international friendlies for this exact reason. It's only part of the problem though, as the cup and league clash is down to our own idiotic FA, who refuse to admit anything is wrong.

Thanks for the welcome!!
Agree that the season is normally pretty hectic, especially outside the premier league given the additional league and "capitol" Cup [Worst sponsorship name I've seen in years] games, but let's hope no injuries tonight and look forward to Friday Nights Kick off!!!

That's because the FA is run by a bunch of idiots that make Boris Johnson look (relatively) normal. It would be nice to see an Association run by people who have football at heart and not politics. But lets hope the extra games sharpen us up!!

From the start of the 2014-15 season, there will be 9 fixed "double date" windows over 2 seasons, allowing a maximum of 18 qualifiers and friendly games in that qualifying cycle.
Designated "international weeks" will run over 9 days, with teams playing on either Thursday and Sunday, Friday and Monday or Saturday and Tuesday.
The dates set aside have been assigned to September, October, November, March and June.

So what does that mean G-ster. Sorry, just staring blankly at your post.
Does that mean that we will see more a disruption or less?

There won't be any one-off international games in August, with 2 fixtures per international break (so qualifiers/friendlies will not be so spread out over the year).
