Absolutely beautifully sung. A very moving piece altogether.
Why did we have to have that screecher Lesley Garrett for our FA Cup Final?

I was pretty sober at that point and I also felt it was excellent. Boyle did an excellent job of mixing the old with the new, the history with the entertainment, the pageantry with the grime.
Very talented chap indeed.
Also, did anyone hear the 1927 reference? The facts are that the King at the time (forget which one, and don't care frankly) was so impressed with the hoardes of Welsh fans singing an impromptu Abide With Me that he requested that it be sung at every Cup Final.
There were a few other 'firsts' that day, including where the phrase 'back to square one' originated.
Heard the 1927 reference and noticed they fell short of mentioning the obvious, must have been because everyone is already aware of it. Still, come on Beeb, give us a shout out.

I might mosey over to BBC Llandaff and start hollering through the gates at them about this oversight.

Nah, feck that. It'll just be the porters left there at this time of night. No, what I suggest is a strongly worded leafleting campaign.

Hahaa, that just reminded me of the worst opening to an 'international' event I've ever seen!
Diana Ross opening the Rugby League World Cup at the old Wembley. Holy s**t, it was worse than the end of Ninian Park v Ipswich*
*which I still think should've been the setting for a dark Phoenix Nights hidden camera crowd scene
