At my age I don't wear football shirts to matches (and if you saw my physique you would be thankful). In fact I never have, but I do more often than not find myself wearing something blue on match days. I am sure that there is psychology involve - more tribal than fashion.

I don't have anything red, so. I have never even worn red to see Wales. If I am to wear red therefore, I would need to make the conscious effort to buy something. Part of me tells me to do so to show my support for the club and team, but there is something telling me that I would be doing so partly to be provocative (not in the sexual sense you understand). I do fear that there is going to be some trouble.

It sounds trivial, but I don't think it is. Anyone else feel the same?

This is a really sad place we find ourselves in. We have to make a risk assessment on whether wearing the official club home strip at home will provoke other home 'fans' to respond either verbally or physically. It's that whole terrorist thing that if we have to consider a possible threat all the time and then modify behaviours accordingly then 'they' have won. I will be wearing my normal assortment of retro shirts as they are my favourites. I don't own a current strip but if it comes to it and enough real fans are wearing one to make a statement then I'm in but again this would not be my normal M.O. at the start of a season. Damned if you damned if you don't. One thing I do know is that I won't stand idely by if a fan wearing red comes under threat.

Like your red avatar MoH!

On a serious note my 11 year old wants a new home kit for his birthday. I could not live with myself if some meathead stirred up by the 'well meaning' advocates of the KCB brigade were to direct verbal or even physical abuse towards him.
Given some of the tendencies of our 'loyal' supporters I would like to see the club step up security in and around the ground on matchdays.

Don't worry about the elitist nobheads that pollute AAMB mate. Worthless non-fans. Spineless and will do nothing.

Thanks CyG. Nice of you to notice. And who is your avatar? I am intrigued.

As Valley Trash says, this really is a sad state of affairs. I just hope that when the football kicks off things will calm down.

I've been wondering about this as well and like MoH I'm past wearing a current shirt but I don't mind club leisure wear or retro. I've now decided it will be a short sleeve blue polo with a long sleeve red t shirt underneath. I'll either offend everyone or nobody.

Honestly, I feel it could be a worrying issue. Sky tv are certain there will be trouble - why else would they show us against Huddersfield? It SHOULD be an easy win and if you want good close football many other games are better bets IMO. It's quite simple - they want to be live on scene to show anything that kicks off.

I'd like to say that no fan should be stupid enough to assault another for wearing the wrong coloured shirt, but actions carried out by many of our fans have shocked me since this broke. Many are probably nothing but faceless keyboard warriors, but I worry about the others.

I also worry what it will be like when VT and TG are sat in the Directors' Box. It will no doubt bring out the worst in some and will be quite unsavory. Sky will love it. And how will it affect the players?

I've thought about this also and worry about what kind of reaction from the crowd will be when Ali announces their names when they visit. I hope they get a good reaction because they still done a huge job in keeping us afloat whilst their plan is yet to be dis proven so let's hope that by the time the football comes along everyone can unite as one again to support the boys! Bit of a dilemma isn't it?

Perhaps what slumdog says - wear blue and red, that'll confuse the hell out of the meatheads and I guess it means you'll be showing your support for City both old and new.

If the price is right, I'll be buying the new home kit. I know a lot of decent city fans, and I have NOT come across one yet who is hell bent on staying blue. As the numbers suggest, it's a small minority.
