I am really not sure what to expect from these two this season. Both were injured a lot last season.

I am hoping for a lot more from Rudy, particularly in terms of fitness and goals. At times he did show real promise.

I am less certain about Conway. He is a trier but didn't appear to have genuine pace and doesnt try to get outside and deliver crosses often enough.

It may be unfair to judge on what we have seen given the injuries they suffered, but does anyone expect much better this season?

Maybe I've become disillusioned with the large scale of high profile names that have been floating around recently, but I don't have massive faith in either of them. Rudy while talented appears to be an injury magnet, and especially if we bag ourselves a true new first team striker I don't see him getting much action. Conway I think could make a handy bench player, but with names like Bellamy and Kyung possibly coming I don't see him really matching them for a first team spot.

Strangely I thought Conway could do a job for us and showed promise but Rudy was gangly, overrated and every time he came on he seemed to be full of his own hype. Hope I'm proved proved right in Conway's case and wrong in Rudy's case. 'In Malky Confidimus: In Malky We Trust'

Who can forget Conway's 92nd minute winner against pompey though? Great game.

Conway is about 15% overweight. The good life hey?

Gestede is just injury prone (Bambi on ice).

Apart from the final which was more about the occasion just about my favourite game of the season... Everything seemed to be falling into place

I tend to agree with all that has been said. I wouldn't want to see either fail or leave but I can't help but think that if they feature prominantly this season then we will probably be struggling. I feel a little the same about Cowie to be honest, but not as much and at least we know what we will be getting with him.

Cowie would be perfect in a 433 system with a playmaker (Whitts) and a big solid holding midfielder. That gives Cowie the box to box role that he clearly would thrive. He can keep things simple going forward and have the energy to get back and help out defending. This gives a perfectly balanced midfield whilst giving Whitts the freedom of the pitch so he can dictate from where ever (like Xavi but better) and is less likely to be marked out the game which did happen at times last year.

A potent striker and two classy wingers and this system could work a treat

Roath Redbird is spot on with the 433 being ideal for us. Hell we could morph it into a 4-3-2-1 and clog the midfield for Whittingham to control the game and to minimise our width problems.

I think Conway is a decent player but he suffered last season as a predominantly right-footed player being asked to play on the left. He lacks a yard of pace to make him really effective but has something to offer the team.

I’m not convinced by Gestede. His effort/attitude seems OK but he does not have a killer instinct in front of goal. There was one occasion last season (might have been Ipswich at home) where he had a free run on goal from the half-way line and his tame side-footed shot was easily saved. If Bothroyd/Chopra had been in the same scenario I would probably have bet my house on a goal being scored.

To be brutally frank, I don't think that either Conway or Gestede are good enough to be in the team if MM is serious about automatic promotion. Reasonable squad players and that's it. In my opinion Cowie also falls into this category.

That formation could work perfectly with two good attacking full backs to provide an outlet. I love Kev an all but he isn't much of a threat though going forward.

Shall we just buy Dani Alves? I hear he's a decent wing back and wants to leave Conway and Gestede 692773407

In seriousness, to pull off a narrow formation you do need very good wing-backs, Kev is a solid RB but cannot attack, and Taylor is good offensively but weak defensively. But then, the best wing backs are similar to Taylor, however their blistering pace and energy makes up for the weaker defensive ability.
