The problem is our strongest English players - Hudson, Turner, Taylor - all play in defence, and England has never had a shortage of quality defenders. Unless they find some truly outstanding premier league form, they will find themselves forever in the shadow of the likes of Leighton Baines, Joleon Lescott, etc.

Good job they didn't pick him against Wales. We'd never have beaten them.
