1st team squad 2-2 at Shrewsbury. Scorers Mason & Pilkington. Report said Ameobi was good in the air and won several headers from 'long punts downfield' Aaaaargh!
'Reserves' won 1-0 at Carmarthen with Guerra & Le Fondre up front, Lewis in goal, and Kiss in midfield. Velikonja came on as sub.
Finally for the anoraks (like me), the Academy beat Exeter 5-4!

Listened to the closing quarter of the Shrews game and City sounded pretty dreadful. Players running into each other and no leadership on the park. Can't see that the addition of one player in Ameobi is going to paper over the fundamental shortfalls that were there last season.

Not that he has much competition in truth, but Mason has got to start our opening game.

The team that started today has the look of a likely first choice lineup. Mason to start for sure, for me with either Macheda or Doyle. However, will be interesting to see what happens with Kenwyne Jones.

Sparta Rotterdam behind closed doors today. Been following Steve Tucker's feed and City seem to deserve 1 - 0 win. Another goal for Pilkington. Macheda sent off in last minute...only came on at the hour mark.

Just to confirm - red cards don't carry over, right? (Suspension wise)

I wouldn't have thought so. More worrying, Manga stretchered off with knee problem in first half.

Yeah, read about that - appears to be some confusion over just how serious it is, though. I wouldn't be all that concerned if Turner was fit. Oshilaja been loaned out, too.

That leaves us with Connolly & Morrison. Not a bad pairing imo, but we are thin on the ground. I think Peltier can play centrally if needed.

I like the sound of a Connolly-Morrison pairing. We are blessed with options at the back!

According to the City official website, tonight's game against Watford is an away fixture. Spoke to a mate in Cardiff just on his way out to the game, who says it's definitely a home fixture.

I know which one I trust more.... Today's Friendlies 1525230823

Moore

Peltier  Morrison  Connolly  Malone

Pilkington  Digkachoi  Whitts  Ralls

Mason  Ameobi

I reckon that pretty close to our first choice Championship XI

Half time 1 - 1.

Sounded a reasonable performance 1st half. Ralls - Malone linking well and Mason looking a handful. Sloppy defending for equaliser apparently.
