Young defender Semi Ajayi has today left for an emergency loan spell at Cardiff City.
The 21 year old has been a regular for the under 21 side this season, making ten appearances, and the Nigerian under 21 international now makes the move to Russell Slade's Cardiff until the end of the season, looking to get some good game time under his belt.
The player is still awaiting his Arsenal debut, but he has been involved in the squad this season, being an unused substitute in the games against Newcastle and Stoke in December, as well as the game against Hull in October.
Having coming through Charlton's youth Academy, he joined us back in 2013 after a successful trial and he has spent time out on loan with Dartford during his time at Charlton, where he made three appearances, scoring once for them.
Hopefully it will be a productive spell for him.

we got to look absolutely stupid
I'd say the writing is on the wall for Connolly, Fabio and Kenwyne and a few more besides if this is the kind of business deals we'll be doing in the future. Whether they are good players or not it won't matter, the only figure that counts is their wages. Almost certainly anybody bought in Ole Gonna Skiwear's era will be on too much and any higher earning squad players will be out on their ear too (Connolly included).

Isn't Connolly still on the same 3 year deal he signed for us back in 2012 though? Ie, he was only ever a standard championship level wage demand? If he is also now considered too expensive, what does that say?

Dave, I think you'll find that this lad has been on trial with City for a few weeks and played in a few U21 games. It seems that RS has seen something in him that he likes and has taken him on for the rest of the season with a possibility of a free signing in the Summer. If this is the same guy I'm thinking of, he's massive, got pace and scored a few goals during hi trial period. It's a case of 'watch this space'.

Walesonline referred to him as 'the new Sol Campbell', quoting some arsenal source. God knows where that came from and im not sticking my neck out there by saying I trust that in any way.

Very true. If Watford want him permanently, it's a move that will happen, regardless of what Slade says of it being to the end of the season only. That may be the formal agreeement in place, but not the longer term thinking.
Why can't people at City tell the truth?

Slade has stated that the new lad won't get near the first team this season, so it looks like these loan deals, both in and out are precursors to permanent moves.

Even more top class man management from Slade there then, I'm sure telling the media that regardless of how hard you work in training that you won't be playing wil do wonders for the kids confidence....
