Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has completed another piece of his backroom jigsaw with the appointment of Paul Trollope as head coach

Former Wales international Paul Trollope has joined Cardiff City as head coach.

The ex Bristol Rovers manager has joined up with Russell Slade and Scott Young to head up the Bluebirds bid for Championship survival.

Trollope, who won nine Wales caps between 1997-2003, was assistant to Chris Hughton at Norwich City and previously worked at Birmingham City.

The 42-year-old emerged as the top man in Cardiff City's list for a head coach , drawn up by Slade and Mehmet Dalman.

Today they bagged their man after inviting the former Derby, Fulham and Crystal Palace player, into the chairman’s suite as a guest during the goalless draw against Brighton on Tuesday night.

The appointment comes after Kevin Nicholson was appointed U21s Manager.

A statement on the Cardiff City official site says: "Cardiff City Football Club is pleased to confirm that Paul Trollope has joined Russell Slade’s backroom staff as Head Coach.

"Paul’s appointment comes in the wake of the recent U21/DVP restructure that has seen Kevin Nicholson take on the role of U21s Manager.

What can Paul bring though?

Is the current coaching staff beyond redeeming?

I hope not, but part of me is starting to agree with those who say that everything needs to be reset and started again.

The reason for the hesitation is because I look at other teams that have changed their manager everytime they hit bad form, or have a bad season, and it almost always makes things worse.
