Tan clearly wanted a puppet - it's the ONLY explanation for not making a move for Tony Pulis, who openly admitted he would of accepted the job if it had been offered to him. He was far and away the most obvious choice after only just demonstrating what he could do for a team.
Tan wanted a man that would do a half decent job while turning a blind eye to Tan picking who plays and who doesn't, who doesn't care what happens as long as money keeps landing in his pocket. He got exactly that in Slade, just without the half decent bit.

Whilst I agree with what you say Red, I think the article is speculative. Hartley FELT he wouldn't have the final say, presumably based on rumour. There was no interview.
At the end of the day, he is right in what he says about being too early in his career to move from Dundee. WO have picked up on one sentence and made a headline, as they do.

Football management is a small world, everyone tends to know everyone else surprisingly quickly - just remember how much contact ur staff had with the likes of Mourhino and Alwx Ferguson even prior to our premier league days. He would of heard bad things about Tan from somewhere. They're click baiting as they always do, but I don't think it can be dismissed purely on that.
