Mackay would look a genius in signing Cornelius if this happened.

If available, money can be splashed to get the right players, in view of the Bosman acquisitions like Guerra, Dichachoi & Macheda. McCormack is proven at this level, season after season and we know that he is not against a move to Cardiff.

At worst a short term investment to get us back to the PL.........you have to admire the determination to do so if true. However, given his age and year on year improvement, Rosco is a pretty good longer term bet as well.

The amount is high, true but it does not put it in the class of Cornelius for the reasons Brazilian TDA states above.

While I wouldn't want to splash that amount of cash on him, if we did, at least I know we'd be getting a bloody good goalscorer.

We could still with some defenders first mind...  

9 mill for McCormack? That would be crazy money, especially in light of our recent signings.

I've always thought he was overrated tbh. His last season with us in 09/10 he scored just 5 goals in 44 appearances and the season before a good chunk of his goals came from penalties - perhaps that has coloured my view of him as a natural goalscorer.

Though on saying all that, I just checked, he did score 29 league goals last season!

Still though, too much money imo.

I said at the end of last season we should splash out £7/8m on a McCormack/ Rhodes type player, rather than the same amount of two or three unproven players.

However, after bringing in Le Fondre and Guerra, it would be pretty silly spending that type of money!
