To be fair, he hasn't had Rangers to worry about during his tenure, so difficult to quantify what he has done at Celtic.

That said, I would have thought that he would be looking for a PL club with European asperations, rather than one just relegated. If he didn't take them back up, then what reputation he had built up in Scotland would be diminished.

But would a Prem team take a punt on him? It's a difficult one but I'm surprised he left this season

Maybe he realised he's actually not got a better chance than now. Rangers are back in the Premier next season aren't they?

I thought it was another season before they were? Ah that changes things. I know there has been a lot of speculation that he is being told he will only be given money to bring in players by selling first, and he will only be given 50-75% of those figures. Strange seeing as Celtic play in the Champ league yearly, have 60,000 attendance most weeks and have a lower than Premiership wage bill?

Celtic are a financially prudent club and reluctant to splash the cash.

I think they have another season to go due to restructuring of the divisions.......I may be wrong though.......
