......Dripping Pan which sounds disgusting but is the name of Lewes FC's ground who I will be watching today against Leiston in the Ryman Premier.
Has anyone ever heard of a stranger name for a ground?

I lived near there but never knew that. They have great pre-match posters don't they? Google them if you haven't a clue what I'm blathering on about.

They have a great promotion on their website. Instead of buying an executive box, they are building beach huts on one of the banks which can be rented. See - www.lewesfc.com/rooks-beach-huts/
The posters by a local artist are also brilliant.

I went to this Ryman Premier game yesterday in a superb little ground with comfortable seats and plenty of standing room with great views. The locals were very friendly and the clubhouse stayed open all afternoon with no restrictions to stop fans taking their beer onto the terraces during the match. Consequently, a large percentage of the crowd boozed, chanted, and laughed their way throughout an entertaining 5-1 win for the home team.
I've always been a bit sceptical about the entertainment value of Premiership football and comparing yesterday to some of my Cardiff City afternoons this season makes me even more so.

Have to agree with you about the entertainment value of PL football. I personally think the Championship is more exciting, which is just as well............

Fairly valid point apart from the drinking bit - can you imagine Liverpool, Crystal Palace or Stoke fans behaving themselves if 75% of the crowd is bladdered? Football means more the higher up the pyramid you go, and with more meaning comes intended emotions that would be amplified by alcohol.
