These are the new Cardiff City Away and Third kits for the 2013-14 season by Puma. The team known as the Bluebirds will be appearing in their first Premier League season.
The kits - referred to by the club as "Alternative" - consist of a yellow Away and a blue Third. The latter carries the club's traditional colours after their change to red a year ago.
The yellow kit will be worn in the away fixture against West Ham United, opening Cardiff's top flight campaign, and the blue will be available as a secondary alternative to the Home kit throughout the year.
Both shirts carry the "Visit Malaysia" sponsor.Visit www.tshirtinuk.com.You can buy it.

One for Rhys, I think.......
Right.
Thank you trouser for this but as I'm sure you are probably aware, this is 2014. You are a little late with the spam article I'm afraid.
Although not to waste a thread, this got me thinking, how many times have we worn the yellow kit? Maybe like two times?

West Ham (x2), Villa, Palace............just guessing really.......
I think it's a really gross kit. Yellow should only be worn by goalies and refs.....and preferably rugby refs at that......

More relevant is how many times have we actually worn the blue kit?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Tan despises blue so much then get rid of it. It will upset a few but not as many as it's upsetting by making blue the away strip but then NEVER WEARING IT.

I don't think yellow has been worn ahead of blue this season, but there is no requirement to change from the primary strip (i.e. the red one) unless there is a potential clash. I do get annoyed by teams who wear different colurs when not necessary.......now that is a blatant marketing ploy.
I would like to see a rule that obliged teams to wear their primary strip in away games whenever possible, with a final decision as to whether there is a clash being left to the ref.

Again, that I would be fine with. But the way it's marketed right now is that we are red at home, and blue away. When you give some of our caveman fans that hope and then suddenly we are wearing red every match possible, you create needless hostility. It's like promising a child they can have the toy they wanted next time you go shopping endlessly, knowing full well you are never going to buy it them.
I thought most clubs were contractually obliged to wear 2nd strips a certain amount of times a season, which is why sometimes they change when there is no need.

Well, they shouldn't be.......that's the tail wagging the dog.

It's sensible from the company's perspective. Consider a club with big, recognisable colours - Manchester Uniteds red, barcelonas two tone. You are going to sell an enormous amount of that shirt, it comes with the territory. But because of occasional clashes you are also asked to make two extra strips that will also be made on mass. If the team only ever plays in the first strip then all the fans will only ever bother buying the first strip, and you make massive losses on the other two.
It might also go a way to explaining why very often a clubs away strip is actually better looking than their home strip - that rather fetching orange kit Barcelona had designed for example, and Newcastles isn't bad in a 'Brazil 1970' sort of way.

I understand the logic behind it, but don't agree with the marketing ploy in principle. It's a form of emotional blackmail designed to pry even more money out of financially hard pressed fans, especially those who are parents...........

I think all businesses exploit it's customers, it's just how it works. As a parent of a young child I'm
Now particularly aware of how toy companies exploit the crap out of me by filling children's tv channels with adverts for expensive toys...
