One day cricket. 40 overs per side. Played on a group basis with 4 teams going through to the semi finals. Glammy now play Somerset or Notts (I think) in the final.

Any sport which involves sitting around all day hoping someone occasionally hits the ball isn't for me I'm afraid.

You obviously haven't watched it Red. At one stage today, Glammy hit 57 runs off 24 halls.Red614 wrote:I feel asleep after the first three words...Cyncoedslumdog wrote:One day cricket. 40 overs per side. I've sat and watched games with my dad who is also a fan, famous '3 runs per ball needed to win yet still wins' miracles but I still cant get over how anticlimactic the whole thing is.
I mean no offence, Im a big fan of American Football and I know that's unpopular around these parts too. Just a misguided attempt at conversation

I must admit that I dip in and out of cricket these days. I used to be a season ticket holder down at Sophia Gardens, but I think the tampering with the game over the years has spoiled it for me. I appreciate that something had to be done to generate interest and revenue, but, for me, the purest form of cricket, be it a three or five day game, has lost out as a result.....Red614 wrote:I've sat and watched games with my dad who is also a fan, famous '3 runs per ball needed to win yet still wins' miracles but I still cant get over how anticlimactic the whole thing is.

On the other hand, I am also a fan of American Football, having followed the game ever since Channel 4 and Sky started offering regular coverage. Unfortunately, age is catching up with me and I can't do the late nights now. This year's Superbowl coverage was the first I didn't see since the 1983 Redskins v Dolphins game........

None taken Red. We all have our own opinions, the difference being that mine are always correctRed614 wrote:I've sat and watched games with my dad who is also a fan, famous '3 runs per ball needed to win yet still wins' miracles but I still cant get over how anticlimactic the whole thing is.

I was always a big fan of American football as well and have followed Denver Broncos for many years since I went on a rugby tour to Colorado and went to Mile High Stadium.
I used to watch it avidly but, like TDA, I cant be arsed to stay up all night watching it these days.
