I kind of expected this. I am guessing Malky thinks that Conway doesn't offer enough going forward at Prem level and while the same might be said of Smith in terms of him not being your flying winger type player he is probably wanting his Prem experience in the squad.
I would have kept Conway and left out Smith but i can understand the decision.
Brayford is in so it is wait and see time for what happens there.

Feel bad for Conway though. Thought he played well in the second half of last season and proved to be quite an effective impact sub too.

Yes if it is effectively the end of the road for Conway here then i will wish him well as i think he definitely played his part last season in helping us get promoted. He will have to go out on loan initially now to get games and i suppose he might play his way back into contention for January but , to be honest, i think it unlikely.
I still think we are a bit short of wide options so i hope that Harris can tick whatever final boxes he needs to with Malky to get himself into contention as the season goes on.
Something tells me he might be this years Velikonja in terms of the fans urging Malky to give him a chance.

Would prefer Conway over Smith.

The hand of Red is all over this decision

What a great early Christmas present, cheers Malky. Finally, finally we see eye to eye on something
Smith shouldn't of made it either I agree, but I think that's purely because he can play right midfield and we're still very low on numbers on that side.

You've got me. After seeing my tactical capabilities on Fifa firsthand Malky was desperate to add me to his coaching team. I'd already signed a contract with Mourinho however after beating him 6-0 the other week, he has a better appreciation of my attacking flair.Cyncoedslumdog wrote:*** G L O V E S *** wrote:Gutted. Our promotion season was a true team effort, with not one player reaching double figures. However, the two goals I seem to see over-and-over is Conway's late winner (vs Sheff Wed) and Conway's goal at Burnley to win the league.
Such a shame to see him all but booted out of the club.

Have to show my colours on this issue too. I've never been a huge fan of Conway and, like Cowie, I won't be too sad when he leaves.
He shouldn't struggle for work, championship winning players go like hot cake for promotion chasing teams I'm sure. He tried, bless him he tried, but at the end of the day he just didn't make the grade.

tend to the view that conway upset malky, otherwise it would have been the other way round.
