Spurs felt they had a ready made replacement for Caulker in Romanian centre back Vlad (The Impaler?) Chiriches which is why they let him go.
Unfortunately after he signed for us, the Romanian Club's manager pulled the plug on the deal - from his prison cell!

I think it's the club's owner who is in prison and throwing a strop.
