Huge Match Fixing Ring

Crazy.
Some 425 match officials, club officials, players and criminals are suspected of being involved.
A Champions League tie played in England is one of 380 matches across Europe investigators say was fixed.

This potentially has huge repercussions for those involved, fines? Points deductions? Could be the end of some playing careers.
I would be really interested to find out which PL team is involved in the investigation.
I always thought match fixing is near enough impossible in football due to the number of people involved.

Quote from Europol - "It is clear to us this is the biggest-ever investigation into suspected match-fixing in Europe. It has yielded major results which we think have uncovered a big problem for the integrity of football in Europe."
Oh dear.
Oh dear.

Money always talks - European football has got far too big in money terms now, and the bigger it gets, the more it's going to attract this sort of thing, I suppose.
It's also got far too big in football terms, and I find it generally fairly tedious these days. But this is the world that we want CCFC to be a part of one day.....

I think you'd need several players 'in' on the deal to make it workable.
Bribing the referee makes more sense.

You only need one player to get himself sent off early on to hand a big advantage to the opposition, though. One other to make sure he gets a couple of yellows as well, and then you're laughing.

Players involved from Wednesday, Charlton, York, Mansfield, Man Utd, Wolves apparently.

It's simpler than that to change matches results, and cheaper. All you need is to bribe a striker to flash a good chance wide if it arrives, or even better bribe a keeper to fumble a save he would of been able to make.
Is say the goalkeeper is the number one player on the field for bribing, possibly beside the referee. A goalkeeper that has a bad day can ruin a teams chances - fumbling shots, deliberately being slow to leave his area, not coming out to catch corners.
