In virtually a mirror incident to our own former player's, Liverpools Raheem Sterling has been charged with assault against a woman who suffered facial injuries. Think Sterling will also find his way out the door?
Bearing in mind, Brendan Rodgers is a man that has allowed Suarez to dive, play act and hurl abuse at referees every match he plays and only punish him when he tells the press. In pretty certain he'll ignore the fact he's playing a wifebeater if he starts giving liverpool wins.

I was wondering the same.
Unfortunately, in football, there is a world of difference between a transgression of an untried youth player and that of an established Premiership player.
The offence might be the same, but the gesture of dismissal would be far more costly in terms of £££££ for a club in the latter instance and that what counts.........sad times indeed!

I think that would come under "gross misconduct" which - I think - means the employee (Sterling) wouldn't be entitled to a payoff. Any HR experte on here?
I don't think Brenda or any Premier League club has got the balls to sack a high profile/England International player though. They'll spin it somehow and save face.

Sorry, could have been clearer. I wasn't thinking of the cost of getting rid of a contracted player, more so the potential loss of revenue through weakening the team.

If he is charged with the offence Liverpool would not have to pay out. I'm sure it would be within his contract that he couldn't bring the club's name into disrepute, and what he has done would be in breach of this. If found guilty in a court that would ensure the club wouldn't need to conduct much if an internal investigation prior to a contract termination.
