How much would you sell Whittingham for?

Don't all burn me at the stake just yet. Or at the very least burn Kate1 too as she gave me the idea
Whittingham is without a doubt an icon of the squad and has inspired much of our success. But is he really genuinely irreplaceable? Forget that he doesn't want to leave us, and also the fact we'd never want to sell him, instead just answer this - how much money would be required to tip the scales for you? 5 million? Ten million? Twenty million pounds? There is surely a point when you'd be so rolling in money that the squad could flourish even without him.
So if you were manager, what would be your price?

I think he's a player who is worth more to us than his actual value. I don't think we would get more than 2-3 million for him because he doesn't turn it on consistently enough for a Club to risk 5-6 million.

Quite right, around 2 million i think I'd 'officially' value him at. The question was however how much would you have to be offered before you'd sell him. I know there's no chance in hell anyone would pay us ten million for him, but it's purely hypothetical.

Putting this another way, who could replace him and offer the same ability to retain possession, deliver set-pieces, score goals, etc?
How much would they cost?

Michu only cost Swansea two million, I wouldn't mind buying three of him...

I'd say 4-5 mil is about right. No he's never played in the Premier League (or not for a while anyway), but I'm pretty sure he would cut it. His set pieces, which have improved dramatically this season are definitely the class of someone from the Prem. You have to remember he is English too, so you have to add on a couple of more mil, so I'd say we would let him go for somewhere inbetween 6 and 7 mil. Plus he's 28 and in his prime.

His value is probably £3million however I'd sell at £5million. As Cyncoed Slumdog's said his value is inflated by our opinion of him. He would probably be a luxury player in a Prem side, so not sure who would want him. Although the rumour was that Fulham offered £3million a year or so ago

I don't even want to think about Whitt's leaving, it's too terrible to contemplate, like a wife leaving you for another man, she says she still loves you and it's not you it's her, but it's time for her to move on, but we can change, we can do things you like too, we can stop going to the pub, the bookies and even the football, please don't go, I don't know what we'll do. Oh god I need a drink.
