Class Arkay... I'm sure this was 'inspired' (ripped off) by the artwork form Jeff Wayne's war of the world album
As an aside, I read the John Christopher novel "Death of Grass" and it was great - I recommend it. I should really read this trilogy before checking out a repeat of the (what I'm certain will be) hilarious effects of the 80s series.
