Malky on new Jan signings: I've not looked at specific positions

This is related to the other transfer thread, but I felt that this deserved a thread of it's own.

Malky: “We will try to bring someone in if we can,” he said. “But I’ve not put any set numbers on it or even looked at specific positions."

I doubt the above statement to be true. Surely Malky has looked at our defence and knows it needs strengthening?!

If the above is truthful, I find it quiet maddening that we haven't scouted out some new defenders already. It would be simply unbelievably.

Smoke 'n' mirrors........Malky knows exactly who he wants, as he always does....but he'll want them on his terms and at the right price.

Malky proved in the summer that he's the master of keeping his tactics secret. Excluding Maynard and Kim (who was leaked by me, not to brag or anything...), we didn't hear a sniff of any new signings until they appeared officially.

If he's telling the truth and he isn't targeting specific positions then that's worrying. It's how improving a team works, you constantly replace the weakest link, no matter how good your team were to start with.

But, lets be honest, I'm 99% he's lying simply because announcing that Taylor is rubbish and needs replacing probably won't help his morale.

I was told today that Malky is after the Dundee striker Johnny Russell

I'm surprised Malky hasn't come and said 'Ochhh we are desperate I mean really fecking desperate for some defenders and a striker and I've got £11 million to blow... Anyone got any good deals on players they don't need at a reasonable price'

I think Russell has been linked before and given Malky's history of going back if he was not successful the first time, then there may well be something in this........
