Can anyone recommend one? Was thinking of getting a Samsung Tab 2 for xmas. It's cheap(ish) and seems to do everything an iPad can, just using a different system operator.

Yes, I've asked Santa for a Nexus 7 - fantastic value for money and just makes the iPad mini plain embarrassing on cost and specs.

Kindle Fire HD I have and its much better than my iPad. Much better size, more you can do with it. I can develop on it easily as well.
Much better plus the Amazon store is growing day by day as people switch over.

I've got a small chalkboard and two different coloured chalks. It never runs out of battery.
