Tan Appoints New Director - A QC

Cardiff City Football Club is pleased to announce the Board appointment of Stephen Owen-Conway as a director. Stephen joins the Board following his recent nomination by Tan Sri Vincent Tan.

A long-standing Club supporter, Stephen resides in Perth, Western Australia. As a Board director he will assist the Club in all its future endeavours and will travel to the UK on Club matters as required.



Born and educated in Cardiff, he attended Fitzalan Technical High School. He graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1972 with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree. Stephen became a member of the Inner Temple in 1971 and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1973.

He moved to Australia in 1975 and thereafter he became admitted as a legal practitioner in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia. He was admitted to practice in the High Court of Australia in 1976 and appointed as a Queen’s Counsel in Australia in 1992. Stephen has also held positions as a Lecturer in law at the Universities of Queensland, Western Australia and Nottingham and as Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Western Australia.

Stephen practices in commercial litigation generally, and specialises in competition, taxation, intellectual property and corporations law. A Cardiff City Football Club fan since 1959, his Club connections run further to his uncle, George Owen-Conway, who played for the Club in 1940 under the name George Conway. A keen footballer himself, Stephen played for Cardiff Boys in 1965/66 and played semi-professionally in Australia between 1975 and 1982.
