Winners:

Cylcling and the two Etonion sports, rowing and equestrian.

Losers:

Swimming and diving. What a waste of £31,680,300.

Could Do Better:

Athletics. Only 5 medal winners.

Clearly money needs to be spent on sport in normal schools, as we are massively under-achieving from that pool of potential talent.

You could add to the winners various events that we don't normally do anything much in - taekwondo, judo, kayaking, triathlon, equestrian.

Agree about swimming, although I don't think we expected much more from diving.

Athletics was 6 medals, but that included 4 golds. I'd say it was about average, we're never usually that great, but as you say that doesn't mean we couldn't do better.

Totally agree about sport in normal schools. My mate's an ex-teacher, and he says the biggest problem is the lack of male teachers in primary schools, to get the enthusiasm going at an early stage.
