Altruism like this definitely needs to be covered more and highlighted. We hear plenty of the bad news, it's refreshing to hear a story about basic human kindness.

The tabloids would have presented it as "angry motorists rob medics of £50 as they tend to an RTA", Makes for a better story 
I suppose it's the sort of story the local news uses if it needs to pad out time.
