I’d imagine it’s because he’s as thick as s**t and/or had taken his career and wages for granted

I can't help but think that the organisations that pay comparable high wages in other sports would take a stricter line on how their employees conduct themselves. Apart from anything else, there is the question of alcohol abuse, late nights and fitness.
