At least for the Premier League but the EFL are likely to follow suit:

I do prefer this approach but it will be interesting to see how it integrates with other leagues on the continent and whether it will put English / Welsh clubs at an advantage or disadvantage...or whether it makes a blind bit of difference at all.

Shouldn’t be a transfer window in the first place. Any other walk of life you can change job/career at any time.

So there you have it.

I'm not a fan either. Think it artificially inflates prices and I only barely remember the debate surrounding why it was introduced in the first place - something about protecting teams with small budgets and preventing bigger teams from buying their way out of trouble?

That might very well have backfired in the long run then.

Here's some background to it, for those interested:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_window

"The window was introduced in response to negotiations with the European Commission. The system has been used in many European leagues before being brought into compulsory effect by FIFA during the 2002–03 season.[2] English football was initially behind the plans when they were proposed in the early 1990s, in the hope that it would improve teams' stability and prevent agents from searching for deals all year around, but by the time it was eventually introduced they had to be persuaded that it would work.[3]"

Not all that clear why it was actually introduced and the wiki entry seems very skewed in it's anti-window stance, very little argument presented for it. Unless, of course, that happens to be the case which begs the question -
