Interesting to see that all sides are aiming to mediate. That implies, to me, anyway, that there was some fire behind the smoke, after all.

The whole agent phenomenon is pretty sordid really, wages in sport (particularly football) far outstrip inflation.
I’d argue strongly that rugby players probably deserve that sort of wage over footballers due to the massive repeated physical impacts every match and the increasing likelihood of this current generation of rugby players being left with disabilities. Look at Sam Warburton, after a match he drinks pints of water with headache tablets and ibuprofen and is frequently injured. He’s also said that after a game he often cant walk up his stairs unaided for a number of days. But he earns a wage from the WRU and the Cardiff Blues of about £320,000 per year, which is less than Messi earns per week, even though Messi will be in much better health when he retires.
I understand that the revenues generated by each sport aren’t comparable but even so, footballers earn too much.
Anyway, rant over. Lovely day today isn’t it?

One final point...Juan Mata recently started a movement whereby he wanted every footballer to donate 1% of their earnings to charity. No footballer has followed his lead.
