Will the carrots get crunched today?
This is more than a must, must, must win game, it is a defining moment in the history of football as we know it.

Not at all. Second string team out, a man down, but still giving it a go. We may get nothing from this game, but can't fault the effort.

No excuses, and not a second string team. What happened to the so-called strength in depth that we’re supposed to have.

Tomlin on
Paterson in for Bennett
NML hasn’t been at his best lately
Gunnarsson adequate replacements in Bryson/Damour/Tomlin
Zohore is possibly only one who has not been adequately replaced, although Bogle seemed to be doing alright until his rush of blood.

My wurzel friends have told me that Pack should have been off at the start of the second half. Warnock said the same and even Lee Johnson has just said that he was lucky to escape a second yellow.
Pissed off after that one.
Mendez-Laing lasting less then 10 minutes; they were lucky to avoid a sending-off; Bogle fails to keep his head and himself gets dismissed at a pivotal point in the match

I wouldn't be too upset about this one. Things really conspired against City, but they still looked well organised and capable of nicking an equaliser.
Felt sorry for Bogle, he was running his socks off and looking the part. Nothing malicious in the challenge, but one he didn't need to make.
Need to regroup now and get everyone fit.

I knew it would be a tough one, Bristol are doing well. In fact they are directly below us in the table. Fact is, we are still near the top of the table and we destroyed a decent Ipswich team in our previous game but you can't win them all. Unless you're the Arsenal team of 2003-04 of course

Just seen it again. It was pretty bad, worse than I thought at the time!
Not good watching, but highlights here.......

Will he get another chance?
Yes, I'm sure he will.
Although NW appears to be hopping mad at the moment, his man management skills are such that he will use this incident and get more out of Bogle in the longer term.

Having seen the highlights, the ref has to send Bogle off really. It looked very rash and aggressive.

I agree but if you watch the Channel 5 highlights, Pack's tackle just beforehand was not far off a straight red never mind a second yellow. The ref has apparently said he didn't take action because he thought Pack got a 'touch' on the ball. This must mean that as long as you 'touch' the ball first, you are free to boot players up in the air.Slimfrog's Son wrote:Having seen the highlights, the ref has to send Bogle off really. I thought refs now had to call the foul if the tackler goes through the other player too firmly, regardless of whether the first contact was with the ball. That said, the rules appear to be turning football into a game for softies, drama queens and cheats.
If it is to become a virtually no-contact sport, then the rules on shirt pulling, simulation and dissent should be applied rigorously and with far greater penalties for offenders. At the moment, simulation can only be reviewed retrospectively if the act resulted in a goal or a player being sent off. The footballing authorities haven't got the guts to properly address the blatant cheating that is spoiling the beautiful game.
