Disagree, he was a star and all round entertainer. Maybe you didn’t see him in his prime, Sunday Night At The London Palladium or The Generation Game.

Ah come on @TDA he was a part of saturday night tv for over 70 years I'm sure that makes him a tv legend in more than just his own mind. Having said that I think his peak was the generation game and that was as much down to the quality of the contestants as it was his ability to react to them.

I amaze myself! I have managed to multiquote......
I put up with Bruce Forsyth on our screens for the best part of 60 years, but at the end of the day, he was only moderately good at the few things he did. He wasn't funny, but could sing & dance a bit and could play the piano, but not as well as Les Dawson. He saw himself as the UK's answer to Sammy Davis Jnr, but was nowhere in the same league. I remember Forsyth taking his one man show to the US and being practically laughed off stage.
He may have been able to hold his own hosting cringeworthy shows like the Generation Game and Play Your Cards Right, but an exceptional talent ...... not in a million years.
