Warnock obviously rates him highly to be having such prolonged interest in him

I think he must be a decent player, he is being scouted by Celtic who tend to get value for money and Warnock makes good signings when he has the time to check the player out

Wales Online now saying we have matched a Celtic bid of £1.2mil. The Celtic deal includes a player going the other way so the actual cash will be lower than our bid. I would think Aberdeen would rather sell to us so that they aren't strengthening another Scottish Prem team but perhaps Celtic are so far ahead of the rest that they don't see that as relevant? I also remember Aberdeen getting a bit miffed with City as they thought our bids were too low in January but I'm sure they don't expect clubs to go in with a massive initial offer unless Iain Moody is involved?

Celtic willing to lose out on Hayes as they chase Roberts
05/06/17
Celtic look set to miss out on the signing of Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes as they look to capture winger Patrick Roberts on a permanent deal, according to the Daily Mail.
The Scottish treble-winners offered the Dons £1 million plus Ryan Christie on-loan for a season, though English Championship side Cardiff City look set to offer Derek McInnes’ side £1.2million in a bid to lure the winger away.
The stuttering talks have led many to believe that Brendan Rodgers is trying to finalise a deal that would see Patrick Roberts move to the Hoops on a permanent contract.
The England U20’s winger has spent the past 18 months out on-loan at the Glasgow club and returned to parent club Man City recently, but he could be back in the green and white next season.
If Celtic are prepared to pay a fee close to £10 million that City want for Roberts, it could be a quick return to Glasgow for him.
The Hayes deal will likely soon come to an end as the 29-year-old winger has been given 48 hours to resolve his future before Ireland’s World Cup qualifier with Austria on Sunday.

If he isn't jumping at the chance to play for Neil Warnock, do we really want him?

I don't think it's got to the stage where he can make a choice. I'd guess that Aberdeen are waiting to see the Celtic offer. Most deals nowadays are paid in instalments, Aberdeen are perhaps wondering if Celtic will pay the fee over a shorter term
