Here we are 17th in the Championship and, after the dross that had been served up recently, many supporters are feeling encouraged by four successive draws against very ordinary teams.
How have we ended up here, for FFS? A benefactor with a blank chequebook is what the supporters of every club dream of. On top of that, a club with a catchment area of more potential fans than any other club in the UK.
A succession of seasons where improvements were seen, culminating in the storming of the Championship and promotion to the Premier League.
What could possibly go wrong............but here we are, one win in 14 games and stranded in the lower reaches, probably a dozen places lower than we should be.
The prospects for next season don't look much better.
I don't begrudge our cousins down west their continued success one bit. They have shown how a club should be run. What a contrast, though, whilst we are content our fourth dour draw, they are celebrating a well-deserved double over Manchester United.

It really summed it up for me when people started discussing a point away to Huddersfield as 'a decent result'. 5 years ago, maybe even more, we would be expecting to go a team like Huddersfield and absolutely smash them, anything less would be unacceptable.
We are a much, much weaker club now then we were half a decade ago, regardless of whether you're judging it by team quality, league position or financial status. For all the talk of wanting to make us a top six Premiership side, the Vincent Tan effect this far has been to destroy us from the inside.
Cheers for this on Monday morning by the way TDA

no body has a right to smash anybody out of sight, that right has to be earned. guys on most message boards, including this one assume that we have a right to do this or that and if we don't then it is the owners fault.
we are blinkered, if we don't win it in tan's fault, if we claim to be racist then it is abramovitch's fault and so the list can go on if i cared to research owners.
who has cared for once to look in the mirror and say what have i done? could you/we/i have done it better? just get a bit pissed of with people who sole contribution in life is to moan

it is not specifically aimed at you. at the moment it seems open season on anything associated with Vincent tan and if it means a swipe at anything related to city then sobeit.Red614 wrote:My sole contribution? Bit harsh don't you think Dave?
certain elements of the press are aleigned with some message-boards and are obviously in it together, others are like lemmings

Yes - We are not the club we once were and it looks like we will have to start over and rebuild again.
Though, things can only be looked at in perspective. If we compare our current form amd state of the squad with that of last 5-6 years, then yes - things look pretty dour. However, if you look at our recent run of draws within the context of the last 12 games or so, then things are looking a little more positive and some progress has been made.
There are other postivies, bright lights, within our squad too. Peltier, Matthews (and even Malone) look to be quality signings.
Finally, frankly, we will take any sign of a positive that we can get at the moment.
