i have never heard of so much arrant nonsense in all my life:
Cardiff City Supporters' Trust step up calls for elected fan on Bluebirds board
Owner Vincent Tan's decision to return the club to its traditional colours surprised and delighted supporters in equal measure late last week, with the Trust now hoping it will spark a new era of dialogue.
The club's immediate return to blue will be followed by the introduction of a new club crest, a process the Trust insist supporters must be heavily involved in.
Chairman Tim Hartley said: “The decision of the owner Vincent Tan to restore our club’s traditional colours now opens the way to building a new relationship between the football club and its supporters.
“The last two-and-a-half years have shown that meaningful dialogue and engagement between the club and its supporters is essential as we move forward. We are meeting club executives next month and hope that this will mark the beginning of a new era.
Watch: The emotional moment Cardiff City emerged in blue
“Members have already been discussing the new club badge. It is important that the crest is acceptable to the fans and the club and that supporters are given a real say on options for a new badge. There is also a need to discuss further the issue of conversion of debt to equity.
“Mr Tan has mooted the idea of a supporter representative on the club’s board. The Chairman, Mehmet Dalman, talked of greater fan involvement last week. We have seen what a success having a Supporter Trust director on the board has been at Swansea City and we would like to see a democratically elected representative on Cardiff City’s board.
“We love our football club and deeper and more meaningful supporter engagement will be of huge benefit to the club and fans.
“The UK Government has set up its Expert Group on Football which is looking at fan ownership and at giving fans a much stronger voice in the running of their clubs. These issues are moving up the political agenda with major parties proposing greater supporter involvement before the General Election.
“I urge the club to make the most of the new relationship with supporters after last week’s return to blue and the Trust looks forward to working together in the best interests of Cardiff City.”
Tan's announcement on Friday contained a number of pledges as he bids to bring unity to a club that has been torn apart by more than two years of off-field discontent.

Completely agree that a supporter is needed on the board. Steve Borely doesn't cut it due to his business interests.
They are hoping to bring in legislation in the coming years which makes this compulsory.

What exactly is your problem with fans, as unofficial shareholders via thir puchase of a season ticket, being involved in a consultation process Dave? You seem to just want to be angry about something for the sake of it. (Even by my standards...)

whether we like it or not the board of directors of a football club is not different to the board of directors of any other company. they are there to ensure correct and efficient running of that company and it is my contention that one needs the best qualified personnel for that purpose. to put it mildly by and large, i don't think the best qualified come from pressure groups or message boards

The same board of directors that changed the kit to red and have sparked nonstop protests and attendances as low as 4000, you mean? Because they clearly know much more about the club aesthetics than we do.
Im willing to accept that Tan was potentially just given bad info on the rebrand initially - he didn't realise we felt as strongly as we do about these things. Maybe if someone was able to sit in the meetings with enough knowledge to advise on what would go down well and what may be more trouble than it's worth, we can all get back to football a bit quicker.

i hope you don't think that the attendance of 4,000 was purely as a result of any supposed boycott.
it was so easy to claim a rampant victory when in fact it was probably the easiest match on the calendar to boycott.
just consider:
horrible conditions on not a normal match night.
playing a team in the drop zone of league 1
the match being televised
fans pissed off because of results and the colour issue
i may consider the introduction of a non executive director or observer, but not to be part of the executive management team
