I'm not Maybards biggest fan, but I still think he's head and shoulders above the likes of Macheda. Another poor decision if he leaves in my opinion.

Given how poor most of our strikers have been through this season Maynard should have been given some more oppertunities. However i believe those oppertunties would only confirm my suspicions that, like Macheda, he is just not good enough anymore (i am not sure Macheda ever has been but you get my point).

I would be happy to see either of them move on if we had other options already here or firmly penned in to arrive. As for The Fonze i would persevere with him at the club for the moment because of his past scoring record but we badly need some alternatives as continuing playing him week in week out in the team when he can't score is pointless.

Never been a fan of Maynard, even before joining us. No loss at all IMO.

Yeah, Slade seems to like the classical pairing of the giant target man and the small nippy support, and on that basis it's difficult to determine where Macheda or Maynard fit in. I presume that youngster from Chelsea was the direct back up to Le Fondre. My point was more if we had to lose one or the other, I'd rather it be Macheda who has already had his chance and failed, rather than Maynard who has never had a run of games.

As I said in another topic though, what I find more concerning is we are still discussing more strikers despite the fact we really, REALLY, need a creative midfielder.

Most players never return to anything close to their best following an ACL injury; Maynard falls into this category unfortunately.
