FIFA have suspended him for 9 games and for 4 months from 'all football related activity'.
Quite lenient I think.

The ban also prohibits him from entering a football stadium for the period of the ban and I have also seen a tweet saying he can't be transferred this summer.

Fifa have bottled it, considering he has previous
Agreed, VERY lenient in my opinion as it is worth bearing in mind this isn't the first time, it's not even the second time...this is THIRD time he's done this.
What Suaraz has repeatedly done is tantamount to unprovoked assault.
Incredible and not in a good way.

I seem to be the only one to think it's a harsh punishment.
Yeah, I know it's not his first biting incident, and that has to have some impact on the punishment, but it just seems way too harsh imo.
There are far worse things happening on the pitch, from two-footed leg breaking tackles, deliberate elbows...

The Uruguayans aren't happy either. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth going on.

You are making a good point, but I feel that football, generally, needs to be cleaned up.
There is far too much cynical play that goes unpunished and I would like to see retrospective action under a rugby-type citing system taken against players for foul play and playacting.
However, Suarez, clearly, is unhinged and needs to be sorted out. A season-long ban would not have been over the top, imo. I hope Liverpool take the chance to get rid, à la Joey Barton.........

........according to the BBC, he can still be sold to a club abroad, but presumably the 4 month ban would still apply.
